Vanderbilt will host Louisville on Tuesday night as the teams meet in college baseball non-conference play.
On Tuesday night, Louisville will travel to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt in the teams’ Battle of the Barrel rivalry game on Tuesday. The Commodores are currently in fifth place in the SEC East standings with a conference record of 11-13 and an overall record of 32-16. The team has lost three straight games after being swept by No. 19 Georgia over the weekend with the finale resulting in an 11-7 loss at home. JD Thompson was pegged with his first loss of the season on the mound, pitching two innings and giving up five earned runs. Alan Espinal finished the game with a team-high two RBIs from a walk in the sixth and a solo home run in the eighth. Four Commodores had multiple hits in the game, but it wasn’t enough to compete with Georgia’s strong hitting.

The Cardinals are currently trailing third place NC State in the ACC by just one game and have a conference record of 13-11 and an overall record of 29-18. The team has won four straight games with the most recent being a 5-3 win over Boston College on Saturday to secure the series sweep on the road. Ryan McCoy powered the Louisville offense with three RBIs from a single in the seventh through the right side and a double to left center in the eighth to bring home Lucas Moore and Isaac Humphrey. Kayden Campbell came in as the first reliever for Colton Hartman and struck out four batters in 2.1 innings to earn the victory on the mound.
Vanderbilt and Louisville have met 11 times for the Battle of the Barrel rivalry match that began in 2012. The Cardinals are currently leading the series 6-5, but the Commodores took a 12-8 win in 12 innings last season.
