Miami looks to wrap up an ACC sweep at Boston College on Sunday afternoon

Miami (26-18) clinched a win in its Atlantic Coast Conference series on Saturday at Boston College (21-22). Now the Hurricanes can wrap up a series sweep on Sunday at Harrington Athletics Village in Brighton, Massachusetts. Miami is now 11-9 in ACC play, tied with Louisville and Virginia for seventh in the conference, three-and-a-half games back of NC State. The Eagles, meanwhile, have fallen to 9-14 and share 12th place with Notre Dame. The Hurricanes missed the NCAA tournament in 2024, enting a string of four straight appearances, while BC also made received its last tourney bid in 2023.

Miami took the lead with a three-run second inning and never looked back on Saturday in its 13-4 victory. Gaby Gutierrez helped ice the win with a two-run home run in the ninth inning and AJ Ciscar struck out nine in seven innings to improve to 3-1. Derek Williams slashes .345/.417/.647 with eight home runs and 21 RBI, with Daniel Cuvet leading the team with nine homers and 53 RBI.

Gunnar Johnson gave the Eagles a short-lived 2-1 lead with a homer in the bottom of the first, with their only other runs coming on a throwing error by the Hurricanes in the eighth. BC mustered only three hits and committed four errors in the loss. Josiah Ragsdale comes in with a .307/.408/.497 slash line and 19 steals in 22 attempts. Kyle Wolff tops the squad with five home runs and 34 RBI.

Boston College did not declare a starter for Sunday while Miami will give the ball to right-hander Tate DeRias. He is 2-0 in 14 appearances, three of them starts, while posting a 2.73 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 29.2 innings.
