The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will welcome the Michigan State Spartans to Frank Eck Stadium on Wednesday afternoon for a mid-week, non-conference matchup in college baseball. The Spartans come into Wednesday’s game with an overall record of 16-7 and a conference record of 3-3. Over the weekend, the team took on Penn State and earned the series victory with a 10-5 win in the rubber match. Logan Pikur took the win on the mound and Tyler Horvath earned the save. JT Sokolove, Ryan Mckay and Caleb Berry each finished the game with three RBIs and Mckay led the team at the plate, going 3-for-5.

Notre Dame will look to bounce back from a tough weekend after being swept by Georgia Tech to drop to 12-9 overall and 1-8 in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Fighting Irish 37-14 over the three-game series with the finale being a 10-2 loss. The game was tied going into the seventh inning, but Georgia Tech scored eight unanswered runs to complete the sweep. Catcher Davis Johnson’s lone hit was a solo home run, his third of the season, and the only other run came from the bat of Bino Watters after two sacrifice bunts to get him into scoring position.
Michigan State and Notre Dame have met a total of 18 times in their history and the Spartans hold an 11-7 advantage in the all-time series. The last meeting between these two teams took place last year and the Fighting Irish earned a 4-3 victory in East Lansing.
