The team brings a give-game win streak into this weekend’s series with the most recent being a 6-4 win over East Carolina on Tuesday at home. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead, but the Blue Devils were able to come from behind with strong offense powered by Ben Miller and Macon Winslow as they each delivered two RBI. Gabe Nard picked up his third win of the season with 2.1 innings of work in which he struck out two batters.

The Wolf Pack brings an overall record of 17-8 and a conference record of 4-2 into the weekend’s series, putting them in fifth place in the ACC standings. Despite the success found thus far, NC State is currently on a two-game losing streak after dropping a mid-week matchup to USC Upstate in a 15-5 loss on Tuesday. Matt Heavner hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to power the offense, but with USC Upstate already being up 9-1 at that point, it wasn’t enough to bring the Spartans within reach. Cooper Consiglio dropped to 1-2 on the season after giving up two earned runs in 1.2 innings on the mound after getting the start.

NC State and Duke have met a total of 89 times in their history and the Wolf Pack holds a commanding 59-30 lead in the all-time series. The teams met a total of four times last season and split the games with NC State winning the first two games and Duke winning the latter two.
