Twenty-nine teams have already locked in their bid, and 35 other teams wait for the NCAA baseball Selection Show on Monday afternoon.

With conference tournaments now in the rearview mirror, the next item on the docket is the NCAA baseball Selection Show, which will air on Monday afternoon on ESPN2. The NCAA tournament, similar to the men’s basketball championship, starts with 64 teams. However, in baseball, the 64 teams are competing in 16 regional locations. They are similarly miniature tournaments within the larger tournament. Each regional will only have one winner that will advance to the super regionals. The winners of the super regionals will advance to the College World Series.

Twenty-nine of the 64 teams have already been selected as the winner of their respective conference tournaments. However, the selection committee on Monday will decide the seedings as well as the remaining 35 teams of the tournament. The top 16 teams of the tournament will each host a regional consisting of four teams each.

The projected top five teams in the tournament, in order, are Vanderbilt, Texas, Arkansas, North Carolina, and LSU. Four of the top five projected teams hail from the Southeastern Conference, while the No. 3-ranked team in the country and the ACC Champion, UNC, finish out the other teams. Eight of the 16 projected regional hosts come from the SEC.

In an NCAA.com article, they project UConn, Troy, Xavier, and Virginia as the last four teams in, while Notre Dame, Western Kentucky, SE Louisiana, and UT Rio Grande Valley get stiffed as the first four teams out. Make sure to tune into ESPN2 at noon tomorrow to find out where your favorite team will be playing, or hosting, the start of the NCAA Tournament this week.

Regional restrictions may apply.
