No. 7 seed Georgia opens its run at the Athens Regional against America East tournament champion Binghamton on Friday afternoon.

Despite going one-and-done at the SEC Tournament, No. 10 Georgia (42-15) received the No. 7 national seed for the NCAA tournament and begins play on Friday afternoon at Foley Field in Athens, Georgia against Binghamton (29-24). The Bearcats punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament by winning the America East tournament on Sunday. Friday’s winner moves on to face the winner of the later Oklahoma State vs. Duke matchup on Saturday night, while the losers meet in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs had a first round bye in the SEC tournament, but lost to Oklahoma 3-2 in second round on May 21. Robbie Burnett fuels the offense with a .318/.492/.732 slash line to go with team-highs of 20 home runs and 66 RBIs and has also stolen 17 bases in 21 attempts.

Binghamton dropped its first game on Sunday to top-seeded Bryant 7-3 before coming back in the winner-take-all game later in the day with a 6-5 win in 11 innings. Freddy Forgione comes into the NCAA tournament slashing .358/.463/.642 with 14 home runs and 46 RBIs and Devan Bade leads the squad with 59 RBIs.

Junior right-hander Leighton Finley (2-2) gets the start for Georgia on Friday. He has a 5.08 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 15 appearances, 13 starts, covering 62 innings with 76 strikeouts. The Bearcats open the tournament with freshman right-hander Brady Bouchard (3-4). Bouchard has started six times in 17 appearances with an 8.78 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in 54.1 innings.
