No. 17 ranked Florida opens the college baseball Conway Regional against East Carolina on Friday after a lengthy layoff.

The No. 17 Florida Gators (38-20) return to the field for the first time in nine days on Friday when they open the Conway Regional of the NCAA tournament against East Carolina (33-25) at Spring Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina. The Gators were one of a record 13 SEC teams invited to the tournament, but haven’t played since a second round loss in the SEC tournament on May 21. The Pirates earned their way into the tournament by winning the American Athletic Conference tournament title on Sunday, securing their seventh straight NCAA bid. For Florida, this marks their 17th consecutive trip to the NCAAs. The winner advances to meet the winner of the later game between Fairfield and 13-seed Coastal Carolina on Saturday night, while the losers face-off in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon.
