Nebraska and Oregon play on Friday night with the final berth in the semifinals on the line

The Oregon Ducks battle the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Friday night in the final pool play game of the tournament. The winner of the game will move on to the semifinals on Saturday, where they will play Penn State. UCLA and Iowa have also clinched spots in the semifinals and will play on Saturday. The Ducks are the top overall seed in the tournament after finishing tied with UCLA for the regular season title. They didn’t hit the field until Thursday in the tournament, but they picked up a 4-2 win over No. 12 Michigan State. They gave up a run in the top of the first, but answered with two in the bottom of the first to take the lead. They would let the Spartans tie it in the top of the seventh, but they once again answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a two-run lead. The win pushed their record to 42-13 on the season and they will likely be playing in a regional in the NCAA Tournament, but they first want to win the Big Ten Tournament.

The Cornhuskers, though, want to keep that from happening as they try to earn the last spot of the semifinals.

They haven’t played since Tuesday when they beat Michigan State 5-4 in 10 innings. They almost didn’t get it to the 10th inning as they were down to their last out in the ninth.

The Cornhuskers trailed 4-1 after five inning, but they cut it to one with two runs in the sixth.

It would remain that way until the ninth when the Cornhuskers scored with two outs to tie the game. They would then score in the bottom of the 10th to get the win and move one step closer to the semifinals.
