Oklahoma and Nebraska meet again at the Chapel Hill Regional, this time in a Sunday afternoon elimination game

Nebraska (33-28) extended its stay at the Chapel Hill Regional with a victory on Saturday and will take on Oklahoma (36-21) on Sunday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in an elimination game. The Sooners opened the NCAA tournament with a win over the Cornhuskers on Friday and the winner of Sunday’s game advances to take on No. 5 national seed North Carolina in the regional final on Sunday night. The Tar Heels are 2-0 in the regional and would advance to the super regionals with a win. A North Carolina loss will necessitate a winner-take-all game on Monday.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the inning, Nebraska took the lead on Saturday on Cayden Brumbaugh’s two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth before Hogan Helligso homered in the seventh and delivered an RBI single in the eighth in a 4-1 win over Holy Cross. Ty Horn allowed a run on five hits over 7.1 innings to get the win. Devin Nunez slashes .336/.403/.504 with five home runs and 22 RBI, Dylan Carey and Tyler Stone each have eight homers and Gabe Swansen tops the team with 44 RBI.

A six-run first inning turned out to be the doomer Sooner for Oklahoma in its 11-5 loss to North Carolina on Saturday. Dasan Harris was 3-for-4 with an RBI in the defeat. All six of the Tar Heel runs in the opening frame were unearned. Easton Carmichael slashes .326/.391/.596 for the Sooners with team highs of 15 home runs and 56 RBI.

The ‘Huskers have senior left-hander Will Walsh (4-7) next in the rotation for Sunday. He has a 5.17 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 16 appearances, 12 of them starts, over 69.2 innings. Junior lefty Cade Crossland (4-5) is lined up for Oklahoma. Crossland has 12 starts among his 15 appearances with a 7.04 ERA and 1.53 WHIP, striking out 75 in 61.1 innings.
