Gavin Gallaher and North Carolina will take on Drew Dickerson and Oklahoma on Saturday in the Chapel Hill Regional for a championship berth.

No. 2 seed Oklahoma will battle the regional’s host and No. 1 seed in North Carolina in Game 4 of the Chapel Hill Regional at Boshamer Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina. The Tar Heels finished their season with a 43-12 overall record and an 18-11 record against teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They opened up the regional yesterday with a game against the regional’s No. 4 seed, Holy Cross, and won 4-0. The game was slow to get started, but once UNC started getting on the board, they put up all four runs quick.

ACC Pitcher of the Year, Jake Knapp, started the game and threw 8.1 scoreless innings before closer Walker McDuffie diced the final two-thirds up. Gavin Gallaher finished 1-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs to lead the team. Tyson Bass, Hunter Stokely, and Sam Angelo had the other RBIs in the win. All but Angelo also had a run, joining Jackson Van De Brake.

The Sooners closed out their regular season with a 36-20 record overall and a 14-16 record against teams in the Southeastern Conference. They took on the regional’s No. 3 seed, Nebraska, in the opening game for them on Friday night. They won that game 7-4, advancing in the winners’ bracket. The loser of this game will head to the losers’ bracket while the winner will advance to the championship.

Malachi Witherspoon started the game and threw 6.0 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. Jason Bodin, Reid Hensley, and Dylan Crooks finished the final three innings. Easton Carmichael and Drew Dickerson both homered in the win with Dickerson finishing with two RBIs. Kyle Branch didn’t homer, but he did have RBIs on his lone hit on the night to advance Oklahoma.
