Oregon State went 45-14 in the regular season and was 9-10 on the road this season, while Kentucky is 43-14 and is strong at home, with a 24-6 record. Kentucky got off to a fantastic start in its Super Regional, handling Oregon State 10-0 in the opener of the three-game set on Saturday. Oregon State hosted last weekend in the Corvallis Regional, beating Tulane 10-4 and then taking down UC Irvine twice to claim the regional crown. The team has now won four consecutive games. Travis Bazzana has been tough to stop all year, hitting .415 with 28 home runs and 66 RBIs for the Beavers.
Kentucky hosted last week as well and also swept its regional. It opened with a 10-8 win over Western Michigan before beating Illinois 6-1 and Indiana State 5-0. Emilien Pitre hit a two-run homer in that final victory while Ryan Nicholson had a solo shot to give the Wildcats the victory.
Which of these schools will get the Game 2 victory on Sunday? If it’s Oregon State, a win-or-go-home Game 3 would take place on Monday between these two schools.
