The Spartans did beat the Ducks in the first game of their series back at the beginning of May, but dropped the last two to lose the series.

They are hoping they can find a way to upset the Ducks again, but they are just playing for pride on Thursday.

The Spartans thought they were going to come into this game with a chance to clinch a spot in the semifinals, but they blew a ninth-inning lead to Nebraska on Tuesday.

They led 4-1 heading into the sixth and 4-3 heading into the ninth, but couldn’t hold the lead and then lost in 10 innings. They had the Cornhuskers down to the last out, but an error allowed the tying run to score.
