Rutgers will travel across the country this week for a single game in college baseball against the No. 8 ranked team in the nation in Oregon State at Goss Stadium in Corvallis. The Beavers are 15-3 overall this season. All three of the team’s losses came in the span of a week, as they lost to Oklahoma, Minnesota and Auburn. Since then, they have won nine straight games, including a three-game series against San Diego and a two-game series against Washington State.

Most recently, they took down Grand Canyon, Santa Clara and Grand Canyon again in three straight days. Junior first baseman Jacob Krieg leads the team on offense. He is batting .242 with a team-high six home runs and 16 RBIs. Gavin Turley and Wilson Weber lead the team with 18 RBIs each, while Turley had three home runs and Weber has two.
The Scarlet Knights have dropped to just 9-11 through 20 games this season and are 1-2 in their only Big Ten Conference series. They lost two games to Iowa in that series. Since that series loss, they won two single games against Penn and Wagner before losing two of three games in a series last weekend against Cal Baptist.
Sophomore first baseman Ty Doucette leads the team this season with four home runs and 14 RBIs. Only Doucette and Nick Tomasetto have more than one home run this season for Rutgers. Tomasetto has two home runs and a team-high 18 RBIs. Joe Mazza has been the team’s best pitcher with a 3.52 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts.
