It will be an in-state rivalry game when Tennessee, the No. 1 seed, faces No. 8 seed Vanderbilt on Wednesday in the SEC Baseball Tournament.
The Volunteers enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed after clinching a share of the SEC regular season and Eastern Division titles following a series sweep over South Carolina last weekend. Now, it will play its first game of the tournament on Wednesday against Vanderbilt after a first round bye.
Tennessee is making its fifth straight appearance in the SEC Tournament and is the No. 1 seed for just the second time since the tournament moved to its current 12-team format in 2013. The last time the Vols enter as the top seed, they went a perfect 4-0 to win their fourth SEC Tournament title in 2022.

The schools met less than two weeks ago in SEC regular season play and Tennessee won two of the three games. They won the first two games 8-4 and 7-6, respectively. The Commodores then got a 3-0 win in the final game.
Also announced on Monday was the 25-man semifinalist list for the 2024 Golden Spikes Award, which included a pair of Volunteers in Moore and Burke.
