Oklahoma and Vanderbilt face off on Thursday with a chance to move on to the semifinals in the SEC Tournament.

No. 12 Oklahoma and No. 4 Vanderbilt face off in Hoover, Ala. in the second quarterfinal of the SEC Tournament on Thursday night. Vanderbilt will be the favorite as they go for their sixth win in a row. This is the Commodores first game of the tournament while the Sooners are trying to keep the magic alive playing their third. Vanderbilt might be the favorites but Oklahoma is undefeated in neutral games with a 6-0 record. The Sooners also won the season series against the Commodores when these two met back in the middle of April. That included a 14-0 rout in seven innings for the Sooners. Oklahoma has already beaten No. 13 Kentucky and No. 5 Georgia to get here. Will Vanderbilt waiting around affect the Commodores for their first conference tournament game?

The Sooners are coming off a close 3-2 win over Georgia on Wednesday to advance in this tournament. The 12th seeded Sooners secured the upset over the Bulldogs larger on the right arm of pitcher Kyson Witherspoon. He went 7.2 innings giving up two runs and five hits while striking out eight batters. It was Witherspoon’s SEC-leading 10th win of the season and he has won nine times in his last 15 starts. Georgia scored the first run of the game in the third but Oklahoma came right back in the fourth to tie it on a sac fly. The Sooners drove in two runs to essentially win the game in the sixth on two hits and tooks advantage of a Georgia error. Can the Sooners pull off another upset tonight?

Vanderbilt will try to keep it hot tonight though as it finished the regular season on a five-game winning streak. The winner of this game will go on to the semifinals to play either the winner of No. 1 Texas and No. 8 Tennessee.
