SEC Baseball Tournament play continues on Wednesday as Oklahoma and Georgia square-off in the second round.

Postseason play continues in Hoover, Alabama on Wednesday, as eight teams fight for the chance to be crowned SEC Tournament champs. On Wednesday evening, the 12th-seeded Oklahoma Sooners will take on the fifth-seeded Georgia Bulldogs at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The Sooners made it through to the second round of play after beating 13th-seeded Kentucky 5-1 on Tuesday. James Hitt was credited with the win, his second of the season, after pitching four innings and striking out one batter. The team was led offensively by Jason Walk, who went 1-for-2 at the plate with a two-run homer to right field in the third. Easton Carmichael went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and leads the team with a batting average of .324 this season.

With their overall record of 42-14 and their SEC record of 18-12 heading into postseason play, the Bulldogs received a first round bye. The team closed out regular season play last weekend with a series against Texas A&M in which the Bulldogs took games one and three to secure the series victory. Georgia is currently batting .288 and Slate Alford is leading the offense with an individual average of .329. Robbie Burnett leads the slugging percentage for the team at .732 after hitting 12 doubles, one triple and 20 home runs.

The Bulldogs and Sooners met in an SEC series back in April and the Bulldogs bounced back from an 8-6 loss in the first game to win the second and third by scores of 10-9 and 6-3, respectively. The winner of Wednesday’s game will go on to play fourth-seeded Vanderbilt on Thursday.
