Seton Hall and Creighton will meet Thursday night to kick-off their final Big East series of the regular season.
On Thursday night, Creighton will welcome Seton Hall to Charles Schwab Field for the first game of the teams’ final Big East series ahead of postseason play. The Bluejays come into the series with an overall record of 33-16 and a conference record of 5-12, putting them in seventh place in the Big East standings. The team has won two games in a row with the most recent being a 2-1 victory over in-state foe Omaha on Tuesday. Shea Wendt picked up his first win of the season on the mound, striking out two batters in two innings of work. While Omaha held Creighton to just three hits, the Bluejays made them count. Matt Scherrman brought in the first run with an RBI single to score Nolan Sailors on a throwing error following his bunt and Teddy Deters brought in the second run with a sacrifice fly. Strong defense allowed for only one of Omaha’s eight hits to make it home.

The Pirates hold the fifth spot in the Big East standings with a record of 6-12 in conference play and 23-28 overall. The team will be looking to break a two game losing streak on Thursday night after dropping its most recent game to St. John’s in a 9-1 defeat on Sunday. The team’s only run of the game came from the bat of Jonathan Luders with a single up the middle in the fifth inning to score Staus Pokrovsky. Ryan Reich dropped to 3-3 on the season with the loss after giving up three earned runs in 6.1 innings of work on the mound. Despite taking the loss, Reich did finish the game with eight strikeouts.
When Seton Hall and Creighton met last season in Big East action the Pirates pulled off the sweep, outscoring the Bluejays 22-8.
