Tennessee looks to bounce back from a loss on Saturday to stay alive in postseason play with a win against Arkansas on Sunday.

In the second game of the NCAA Baseball Super Regional, the Tennessee Volunteers look to extend the series against the Arkansas Razorbacks after dropping the opening game on Sunday in a 4-3 defeat at Baum-Walker Stadium. Arkansas opened the scoring in the second inning when Cam Kozeal came home on a wild pitch after hitting a single to reach first. Dean Curley answered for Tennessee in the fifth inning when he hit a two-run shot to left center to make it a 2-1 game. In the bottom of the fifth, Arkansas brought in two runs with a two-run Ryder Helfrick home run. The Razorbacks extended the lead in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to left center from Charles Davalan. The Volunteers brought the game back within one with an Andrew Fischer homer in the ninth, but the team came up just short and looks to rebound on Sunday to extend the series.

After Saturday’s loss, the Vols dropped to 46-18 on the season and will need to find an answer on Sunday to stay alive. The Vols will send ace Liam Doyle (2.84 ERA, 158 K) to the mound, where he will face Arkansas junior righty Gage Wood (5.33 ERA).

Tennessee’s lineup, backed by Fischer’s strong hitting, seeks redemption, while Doyle’s dominance has the ability to swing the momentum in the Vols’ favor. Arkansas counters with Wood, hoping to limit the Vols’ firepower. It’s win-or-go-home for the Volunteers while Game 3 looms in the near distance on Monday if Tennessee evens the score.

When the teams met during SEC play this season, the Razorbacks won two of the three games, but that won’t soon be forgotten for the Vols. Tune in at 3:00 ET as these conference foes go head-to-head once more.
