Tennessee and Ole Miss will wrap up their SEC series on Sunday with a rubber match in college baseball action.

The No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels and the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers will meet in their SEC series finale on Sunday afternoon as the teams look to move up in the standings with a win. The Rebels are currently in sixth place in the conference standings with an SEC record of 9-5 and an overall record of 27-8. The team dropped the first game against the Volunteers on Friday in a tight 3-2 loss, but bounced back on Saturday to win it 8-5 and force a rubber match for game three. Riley Maddox earned the win on the mound to improve to 4-2 on the season after throwing for five innings and striking out five batters while giving up two earned runs. The Rebels spread the scoring out amongst six players to prove how deep their bench goes. Hayden Federico led the team with two RBI, hitting singles in the first and fourth.

With Saturday’s loss, the Volunteers dropped to 30-5 on the season and 10-4 in conference play which has them sitting in fourth place in the league table. Four of the team’s five runs came from homers as Gavin Kilen hit a solo shot in the first, Levi Clark hit a solo shot in the second and Dalton Bargo smashed a two-run homer over the right center wall in the sixth. Despite some strong hitting, the team came up just short to suffer just its fifth loss of the season. Marcus Phillips was credited with the loss after throwing for 3.1 innings in the start. He gave up four earned runs, but also struck out six batters during his time on the bump.

Tennessee and Ole Miss have now met a total of 99 times in their history and the Rebels hold a narrow 52-46-1 lead in the all-time series. Tune in on Sunday afternoon to see which of these two teams can secure the series victory with a win in Oxford.
