Texas A&M will look for its first conference win of the year with an upset over Vanderbilt on Thursday in the first of a three-game series in Tennessee.

The Texas A&M Aggies have a challenge ahead of them this weekend as they take on the No. 22 Vanderbilt Commodores in a three-game SEC series at Hawkins Field in Nashville. The Aggies come into Thursday’s game with an overall record of 11-9 and a conference record of 0-3 so far. The team’s most recent game was played against A&M Corpus Christi on Tuesday in a mid-week matchup that resulted in a 17-7 win in seven innings. Bear Harrison has a monster game for the Aggies, finishing with five RBI from two home runs. Kent Kaeden and Gavin Kash also contributed to the scoring, with each adding three RBI in while Jace Laviolette added two to the scoreboard. Grant Cunningham picked up his first win of the season with 5.1 innings of work in which he struck out two batters.

The Commodores come into this week’s SEC series with an overall record of 16-5 and a conference record of 1-2 so far. On Tuesday, the team hosted Belmont, winning handily in a 13-2 seven-inning victory. Behind strong pitching from Austin Nye, the Commodores held the Bruins to just two hits while producing nine. Mike Mancini led the team offensively, going 1-for-4 at the plate and hitting a grand slam to bring four runs home. Mac Rose added two runs to the scoreboard while the rest of team spread out the scoring. Nye went four innings on the mound, striking out three batters.

Vanderbilt and Texas A&M have met a total of 26 times in their history and the Aggies currently hold a 16-10 advantage in the all-time series. The Aggies swept the Commodores last season in their SEC series, outscoring Vanderbilt 36-6.
