The No. 11 Oregon State Beavers will host the No. 12 UC Irvine Anteaters on Friday as the teams kick off a three-game series at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field in Corvallis. The Beavers come into the weekend with an overall record of 20-6 and are competing as an independent team this year as the majority of the Pac-12 schools went to other conferences at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 academic year. The team’s most recent games were played against Nebraska last weekend and the Cornhuskers took two of three to win the series. The Beavers earned a big 16-5 win in seven innings in game two, but lost 16-7 in the rubber match. AJ Singer and Wilson Weber each finished the game with two RBI to lead the team offensively while Joey Mundt earned his first loss of the season on the mound after giving up three earned runs in 0.2 innings of work.

The Anteaters bring an 11-game win streak into Friday night’s series opener and are currently 22-5 overall with a conference record of 11-1 for a spot in second place in the Big West standings. On Tuesday, the team hosted San Diego, playing to a high-scoring 16-7 victory in front of a home crowd. Colin Yearman led the team offensively, going 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBI from a two-run single in the second, a solo home run in the eighth and sac fly, also in the eighth. Also homering in the win was Chase Call who blasted a three-run shot in the first inning to give his team an early lead which stood throughout the game. Ricky Ojeda pitched for two innings and improved to 5-0 after striking out three batters and giving up zero runs.

UC Irvine and Oregon State have met a total of 13 times in their history and the Beavers hold a narrow 7-6 lead in the all-time series. The teams met the NCAA Regional Final last year and the Beavers won both games to advance to the College World Series.
