The No. 5 seed in the College World Series, North Carolina, will take on Arizona at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in Game 2 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional. The super regionals are a best-of-three series that started on Friday. If necessary, Game 3 will take place on Sunday. The Tar Heels dominated the first game of the series on Friday afternoon with an 18-2 win on the back of seven rocky innings from ACC Pitcher of the Year Jake Knapp. However, the offense remained white hot at the plate, accounting for 18 runs.

Kane Keply, Luke Stevenson, Hunter Stokely, and Sam Angelo all homered in the win. It was Stokely that had the best day of all, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs, a home run and five RBIs. Gallaher remained hot as well, going 4-for-5 at the plate with his 66th and 67th RBIs of the season to lead North Carolina. Arizona will be backed into a corner in a must-win Game 2.

The road to the super regionals was difficult for both teams.

The Tar Heels came back with a vengeance in the Chapel Hill Regional. Hosting, they took down Holy Cross in the first game of the regional 4-0 before matching up in the second game with Oklahoma. After a dominant win over the Sooners, they faced off again the next day against Oklahoma and lost. In a win-or-go-home Game 7 of the regional, they took down Oklahoma for a second time.

The Wildcats won their last eight games straight. They won the Big 12 Tournament with wins over BYU, West Virginia, and TCU before heading to Oregon to participate in the Eugene Regional. They never had to face off with Oregon as they beat Cal Poly, Utah State, and Cal Poly in three-straight games to advance to the super regionals.
