Utah Tech and Utah will meet Tuesday night in the final non-conference game of the season for both teams.
On Tuesday night, an in-state rivalry game will take place, as Utah Tech travels to take on Utah at Smith’s Ballpark in Salt Lake City. The Trailblazers come into the mid-week matchup with an overall record of 13-39 and a conference record of 9-18 for a spot in ninth place in the Western Athletic Conference standings. Over the weekend, the team traveled to California to play Cal Poly in a four-game series. The Mustangs took three of the four games, with the Trailblazers only winning game three by a score of 6-2. The finale resulted in an 8-1 loss in which Morgan Albrecht was responsible for the team’s only run with a double down the left field line to plate Kyle McDaniel. Carson Bonus moved to 0-3 on the season, pitching 1.1 innings in which he gave up one earned run and struck out one batter after facing four.

The Utes have played well this season and are on the verge of breaking into the top 25 with an overall record of 31-18 and a conference record of 16-11 which has them in fourth place in the Pac-12 standings. The team is on a two-game losing streak after dropping games to No. 17 Arizona this past weekend with the final game resulting in a 10-4 defeat. Kai Roberts led the offense, going 4-for-5 at the plate with a solo home run and an RBI double to finish the game with two RBIs. Colter McAnelly took the loss after pitching 4.2 innings and giving up five earned runs.
Utah and Utah Tech have already met once this season and the game went in Utah Tech’s favor with a big 11-8 victory at home.
