UCLA looks to earn a berth in the College Baseball World Series on Sunday afternoon when it takes on UTSA

The UCLA Bruins battle the UTSA Roadrunners on Sunday afternoon in the second game of the Super Regional. The Bruins are just one win away from making the CWS thanks to a 5-2 win on Saturday in the first game of the series. The Bruins, who are the 15th seed in the tournament, are looking to end the Cinderella run of the Roadrunners. It didn’t start off well on Saturday, though, as they gave up a run in the first and second to go down by two. They finally got on the board in the bottom of the third as they tied the game with two runs and then they took their first lead with a run in the fourth. The Bruins held the Roadrunners scoreless the rest of the game and got two insurance runs in the eighth to get the three-run win. Roman Martin and AJ Salgado both had two hits for the Bruins in the win. Martin led the team with three RBI and he had a triple. Michael Barnett picked up the win on the mound as he pitched six innings. He gave up six hits and two runs. Jack O’Connor, August Souza and Easton Hawk then each pitched an inning in relief without giving up a run.

The Roadrunners had trouble keeping up the momentum of the first two innings and failed to upset the Bruins on Saturday.

They will now need to beat UCLA on Sunday and Monday if they want to make their first ever CWS appearance.

This is the first Super Regional in program history and just the fourth time ever they have made the NCAA Tournament.

No player on the Roadrunners had more than one hit on Saturday and Mason Lytle was the only player with an RBI. He homered to lead off the game, but didn’t get a hit in his last three at bats.
