Luke Arnold and Wright State will take on Mike Mancini and Vanderbilt in an elimination game on Sunday in the Nashville Regional.

No. 4 seed Wright State will battle the regional’s No. 1 seed and host Vanderbilt in an elimination game at the Nashville Regional at Hawkins Field on the campus of the University of Vanderbilt. The Raiders finished their season with a 39-20 overall record and a 25-5 record against teams in the Horizon League. They secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament after winning their conference. However, they almost stunned the world, barely losing to the country’s No. 1-ranked team Vanderbilt in the first game of the regional on Friday night.

Cam Allen went 6.0 scoreless innings before being pulled from the game, and Wright State eventually lost 4-3 after giving up four runs in the final two innings. Wright State went on to beat East Tennessee State in an elimination game on Saturday, 7-5. Luke Arnold led the way offensively for the team with a home run and two RBIs.

The Commodores closed out their regular season with a 43-17 record overall and a 19-11 record against teams in the Southeastern Conference. They opened up the tournament on Friday as the No. 1 seed in the country with a win over their opponent today. They scored four runs in the final two innings to win by one run in a game that should have been easy.

However, on Saturday, their struggles continued as they lost to Louisville 3-2 to send them to this elimination game. Cody Bowker was credited with the loss, giving up two earned runs over 5.1 innings. Even the two runs that Vanderbilt scored in the game were off a wild pitch and a fielder’s choice. This team will need to pick it up mightily if it hopes not to go home today. The winner of this game will get a matchup with Louisville, later on Sunday.
