The start of Saturday’s game was delayed by four hours due to rain and the forecast for Sunday prompted the Gators to push Sunday’s start forward by two hours to 10 a.m. Florida comes in eighth in the Southeastern Conference at 14-12 while the Wildcats improved to 12-14 with Saturday’s win and share 11th place in the SEC with Oklahoma.

Jaxon Jelkin struck out 12 in a complete-game effort for Kentucky on Saturday night, allowing two runs on seven hits, and the Wildcats led wire-to-wire in a 4-2 win. Luke Lawrence put the Wildcats up 2-0 with a two-run single in the first inning and Caeden Cloud made it a 4-0 game with a solo homer in the fifth.

The Gators got on the board in the seventh on Brendan Lawson’s solo home run and made it a 4-2 game with a run in the ninth, with the rally falling short when Florida made the final out with the bases loaded after coming back for a walk-off win in Friday night’s opener. Liam Peterson took the loss, surrendering four runs on eight hits over 7.2 frames.
