On Saturday afternoon, Vanderbilt will host No. 1 Tennessee for the second game of the teams’ SEC series in the penultimate regular season weekend before postseason play begins. The Commodores are on the verge of breaking into the top 25 with a conference record of 11-14 and an overall record of 33-17 which puts them in fifth place in the SEC East standings. On Friday night, the team kicked off the series with Tennessee, ultimately falling in an 8-4 defeat. The loss went to Miller Green after he pitched 0.1 innings and gave up three earned runs. Jacob Humphrey led the Vanderbilt offense with a solo home run and a two-run single after going 2-for-4 at the plate.

The Volunteers bring an overall record of 41-9 and a conference record of 18-7 into Saturday’s game and although the team is at the top of the national rankings, it currently sits in second place in the SEC East standings. Four different players homered for the Vols in the win which found Kavares Tears, Dylan Dreiling and Cannon Peebles leading the offense with two RBI each. AJ Causey came in to relieve Bryce Cunningham and earned the win with 6.1 innings of work on the mound in which he struck out seven batters.
