They are looking to get back on track against 15th ranked Syracuse (6-2) who have won its last two matches heading into today. After this match both teams will head into the second half of the season trying to build momentum heading into the conference tournament and NCAA tournaments respectively. The Orange have already have some momentum winning their last two matches. They are 4-1 on the road heading to Winston-Salem for this match against a desperate Blue Devils team that needs to get back on track after losing three straight matches.

In their last three matches the Blue Devils have struggled on the offensive end. They have been held scoreless, losing to 10th ranked Liberty (1-0), 10th ranked Saint Joseph (1-0) and third ranked Virginia (1-0). This is their seventh straight match against a ranked opponent and the last this season.

For the Orange, this is their third match against a ranked team. They won their first against 16th ranked Penn State (2-1), followed by losses to 14th Ohio State (5-0) and second-ranked North Carolina (5-0). The loss to the Tar Heels was their last loss this season before a two match winning streak. 

In their last two matches the Orange have played some of their best field hockey of the season. They dominated Longwood (4-0) followed by a tightly contested win over Wake Forest (1-0). Now they look to make it three wins in a row against a high quality opponent in the Blue Devils today.
