A top-25 matchup will take place on Sunday afternoon as Yale hosts Temple in non-conference field hockey action.

On Sunday afternoon, No. 24 Temple will travel to New Haven, Connecticut to take on No. 25 Yale in the teams’ final non-conference matchup of the season. The Bulldogs are currently 9-5 overall with an Ivy League record of 3-3 for a spot in third place in the conference standings. The team’s last time out was on Friday night and was a battle against Columbia which resulted in a tough 3-2 loss at home. Ellie Barlow and Victoria Collee scored Yale’s two goals with Barlow’s coming off a penalty corner and Collee’s being a shot from the top of the circle to beat Katie Wimmer in the cage. The teams went into the fourth quarter all tied up, but the Lions were able to beat Alexa Pitt once more with 12 minutes left to play and Yale has handled another loss.

The Owls bring a two-game losing streak into Sunday’s contest that they will look to break to get back on the right track before playing their final game of the regular season. The team is currently 9-6-2 overall with a Big East record of 4-2, putting them in third place in the conference standings. On Friday night, the team played Philadelphia rival Villanova, falling 3-0 in an away game. While the Owls held the Wildcats to a scoreless first half, three second-half goals from Ava Borkowski was more than Temple could come back from and the team was forced to take a short trip back to campus with nothing to show for its hard work. Isabella Ospitale finished the game in the cage with three saves and conceded two goals while the third was scored on an empty net.

Sunday’s game between Temple and Yale will be just the second time these teams have met in their histories. The first meeting took place last season and resulted in a closely-contested 1-0 victory for Yale.
