The NCAA Men’s Golf Championships conclude on Wednesday with team match play.

Two days after the men’s individual championship concluded at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, it’s on to team match play finals on Wednesday. Who will be crowned the 2025 champion? Two teams remain, with the Virginia Cavaliers and the Oklahoma State Cowboys going head-to-head for a chance to hoist the trophy at the conclusion of play. Both teams went 2-0 in match play with the Cavaliers beating Auburn 3-2 in the first round and Florida 4-1 in semifinals to end up in the championship round. The Cowboys beat in-state rival Oklahoma 3.5-1.5 before a thrilling semifinal match against Ole Miss, which resulted in a narrow 3-2 victory. Virginia will play in the national championship for the first time, while the Cowboys make a return trip for the first time since 2018 in which they won it all against Alabama in a 5-0 sweep.

While it looked like Florida was going to put up more of a fight against Virginia early on, the men powered through to make it a decisive 4-1 victory. Maxi Puregger put the first point on the board for the Cavaliers, earning his first collegiate match play victory over Matthew Cress. Josh Duangmanee secured the second point, beating Jack Turner to make it 2-0. Ben James came through and clinched the team’s third point on the 18th to put the Cavaliers through to the championship match.

The Cowboys were running out of daylight as the second semifinal match finished up. It was a nail biter, as the teams were tied up at 2.5 going into the final three holes. It ended up coming down to the final hole and the last two players on the course, as Cohen Trolio of Ole Miss and Eric Lee of Oklahoma State got into a putting battle. Trolio missed left of the hole and Lee sunk his putt to put the team through to the title match.

Tune in Wednesday as two very strong teams take to the course again with the hopes of taking some hardware back to their respective schools at the conclusion of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship.
