Arizona State makes its NCHC debut on Friday night, visiting Colorado College as league play opens around the conference.
This weekend, conference play begins around the NCHC. For most teams that means their first conference games of the season but for Arizona State (3-4-1, 0-0-0) it means a bit more. Since making the move to the Division-I level in 2015 the program has been independent, but is making the move to the NCHC this year. For their first conference game the Sun Devils will visit unbeaten Colorado College (6-0-0, 0-0-0) on Friday night at Ed Robson Arena for the first of two games between these two teams this weekend.

Arizona State was at home last time out, and picked up a sweep against Northern Michigan two weeks ago (the team was off last weekend). The Sun Devils won the two games by scores of 3-1 and 2-0. Senior forward Ryan Kirwan had a big weekend, scoring three goals between the two games.
For the season, Kirwan ranks third on the team with seven points in eight games. Junior forward Bennett Schimek and graduate defenseman Noah Beck lead the team with 10 points each.
Now, the Sun Devils face a Colorado College team that has started the season red hot. The Tigers swept Air Force last weekend in a rivalry home-and-home. In their six games the Tigers have allowed a total of just eight goals, with junior goalie Kaidan Mbereko starting all six games and posting a 1.33 goals against average and a 94.0% save percentage.
