Top-seed Denver faces-off against No. 4 seed Villanova in the Big East Championship on Thursday.
With the two teams ready to square-off in the Big East Men’s Lacrosse Championship, top-seeded Denver takes on tournament host No. 4 seed Villanova on Thursday afternoon.
Following a two-plus hour lightning delay in its regular-season finale, Denver finished strong with five consecutive wins entering the Big East Tournament. The Pioneers are 11-2 overall with a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. Villanova, on the other hand, is 8-6 overall with a 2-3 record in Big East play. Earlier this season, Denver took care of business in a 9-6 win over Villanova on the road. The winner of the semifinal matchup will play the winner of No. 2 seed Georgetown vs. No. 3 seed Providence for the Big East Championship on Saturday.

Most recently, Denver finished the regular season strong with a 15-9 victory over Marquette on a stormy Friday night. Redshirt freshman attackman Cody Malawsky led the way with a four-goal performance, while Richie Connell scored a hat trick to propel the Pioneers offense.
As for Villanova, the Wildcats fell to No. 11 Georgetown in their regular season finale by a final score of 12-4 last Friday. Matt Licata scored a pair of goals for Villanova in the loss, while Will Wheeler and Colin Michener were responsible for the two other goals.
