No. 4 seed Maryland squares off against Florida in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament on Thursday.
After pulling off a major upset in the second round to reach the quarterfinals, Florida continues its impressive run against No. 4 Maryland in College Park on Thursday afternoon.
Maryland reached the quarterfinals with two lopsided victories by a combined score of 34-8 over Robert Morris and James Madison. The Terps are 14-5 overall, but are only 5-5 at home this season. Florida, on the other hand, has won 19 straight games with wins over No. 16 UNC and fifth-ranked Virginia to reach the final eight. Earlier this season, Florida upset Maryland by a final score of 13-12 in late February. Maryland is 8-2 against Florida in the series history.

Most recently, the fourth-seeded Terps reached the quarterfinals with a 17-7 victory over James Madison in College Park last Sunday. Eloise Clevenger had a game-high eight points with five goals and three assists, while Kori Edmondson scored four goals in the win.
As for Florida, the Gators reached the quarterfinals for the eighth time in program history with a 13-8 victory over fifth-seeded Virginia. Danielle Pavinelli had a five-point performance with four goals and an assist, while Ashley Gonzalez had a hat trick and two assists of her own.
