After upsetting top-ranked Maryland in an overtime thriller last week, No. 19 Michigan looks to build on the momentum when it hosts No. 14 Johns Hopkins in Ann Arbor on Saturday. 

Following back-to-back losses to ranked opponents Harvard and Notre Dame, Michigan stunned the lacrosse world when it upset then-No. 1 Maryland in triple overtime last week. The Wolverines are now 5-4 overall with a 1-0 conference record and a 3-1 record at home this season. Johns Hopkins, on the other hand, has been up-and-down this season with a 6-3 overall record and an 0-1 pace in conference play. The Bluejays are 4-1 on the road. Johns Hopkins holds an 11-2 advantage in the series vs. Michigan, but the Wolverines won last season’s matchup by a final score of 10-7.

Most recently, Michigan stunned top-ranked Maryland in an 11-10 overtime victory that took three extra frames to decide the outcome. The win was the first victory for Michigan against a No. 1 ranked opponent. Sophomore Nick Roode scored the game-winner with 1:06 left in the third overtime period, while Ryan Cohen led the way with four points on the day. 

As for Johns Hopkins, the Bluejays fell to Rutgers in an 11-8 loss in Baltimore last week. Rutgers scored the first five goals in the second half to overcome a one-goal halftime deficit. Charlie Iler led the way for Johns Hopkins with a hat trick.
