Top-seed Johns Hopkins faces off against No. 4 seed Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament in college lacrosse on Thursday.

After punching their ticket to the semifinals with a big quarterfinal win last weekend, No. 4 seed Michigan looks to pull off an upset over top-seeded Johns Hopkins on Thursday. 

As the Big Ten Tournament’s No. 1 overall seed, Johns Hopkins had a bye in the quarterfinals with a 10-3 overall record and a 5-0 mark in conference play. The Blue Jays won five consecutive games to end the regular season, including a 15-11 win over Michigan in late March. The Wolverines, on the other hand, took down rival Ohio State to improve their overall record to 8-6 with a 2-3 mark in Big Ten play. The winner will play the winner of No. 2 Maryland and No. 3 Penn State in the championship game on Saturday.

Most recently, Michigan advanced to the semifinals with a 15-9 victory over Ohio State in the quarterfinals last weekend. Ryan Cohen and Justin Tiernan both scored hat tricks in the win, while Michael Boehm finished with a four-point night on two goals and two assists. 

As for Johns Hopkins, the Blue Jays last played in their regular season finale victory over Maryland by a final score of 7-5 on April 20. The win gave Johns Hopkins the regular season Big Ten crown and the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament.
