After suffering its first loss of the season in overtime to Michigan last week, second-ranked Maryland faces off against No. 6 Penn State in College Park on Saturday afternoon. 

The Terps began the season with seven-straight wins including a perfect 3-0 record at home, but fell last week on home turf to Michigan to drop to 7-1 overall. Maryland is now 0-1 in conference play as it opens its Big Ten slate, with a 3-1 record at home this season. Penn State, on the other hand, also lost its most recent contest to rival Ohio State. The Nittany Lions are now 6-2 overall with an 0-1 conference record and a 3-0 mark on the road. Maryland is an incredible 42-2 all-time vs. Penn State, but the Nittany Lions pulled off the upset last season in a 19-9 victory for their second-ever win over the Terps.

Most recently, Maryland suffered its first loss of the season in an 11-10 overtime loss to Michigan at SECU Stadium last Saturday. The game featured eight lead changes and seven ties, but it was Michigan that netted the game-winner in the third overtime. Daniel Kelly finished the game with four points on a hat trick and an assist for Maryland. 

As for Penn State, the Nittany Lions fell to No. 9 Ohio State by a final score of 13-9 in University Park last week. Penn State lost despite having seven different goal scorers with Liam Matthews, Ethan Long and Luke Walstrum all finding the back of the net twice. Penn State also outshot Ohio State 40-29, but Ohio State got great goaltending in the win. 

No. 2 Maryland looks to bounce back when it hosts No. 6 Penn State on Saturday.
