Syracuse and Clemson will square-off in an ACC matchup on Friday night as the regular season winds down.
On Friday night, Syracuse will head south and hope to pull off an upset over No. 3 Clemson in one of the last few ACC regular season games. The Orange have struggled this season and come into the contest with an overall record of 6-5-3 and a conference record of 1-3-2 for a spot in seventh place in the ACC standings. The team’s last time out on the pitch was a road game against Virginia in which the result was a 3-0 loss for Syracuse. The team played well offensively, putting seven shots on frame, but just couldn’t sneak one past the Cavaliers’ goalie. Tomas Hut made three saves in net for Syracuse, but the three that he missed made the difference resulting in another loss.

The Tigers are currently tied for second place in the conference standings with an ACC record of 4-2 and an overall record of 9-2-2 for a total of 12 points. On Tuesday, the team hosted USC Upstate for a non-conference matchup and used a big second half to earn a 6-0 win. Remi Okunlola opened the scoring in the 10th minute of play and the score remained that way until halftime. The Tigers came out of the locker room fired up, however, and scored four goals in seven minutes to extend the lead to 5-0. James Kelly, Wahabu Musah, Arthur Duquenne, Alex Meinhard and Jackson Wrobel each scored in the match with all six goals being the first of the finishers for the year. Patrick Donovan and Joseph Andema combined in net for one save as the team earned its sixth shutout.
Friday’s contest will be the 17th all-time matchup between the Orange and Tigers, with Syracuse holding a narrow 6-5-5 advantage.
