Non-conference play continues for Drake and DePaul on Monday as the teams meet in Chicago for men’s soccer action.

DePaul will play host to Drake on Monday afternoon as the teams continue Labor Day Weekend play at Wish Field in Chicago. The Blue Demons will host the Bulldogs as they look to improve upon their record this season and build a solid foundation for conference play which begins against UConn in three weeks with a conference-opener at home. DePaul finished the 2023 season with a fifth place finish in the Big East Midwest Division and will look to improve upon that in 2024. The team failed to make it into the conference tournament and concluded its season with a 3-3 draw against Villanova. This season, the team is will look to prove naysayers wrong as it was voted to finish last in its division in the preseason coaches’ poll.

Also looking to redeem themselves after a challenging 2023 season are the Bulldogs after finishing in last place in the Missouri Valley Conference. The team ended the season with a final record of 3-10-3 and were only able to pick up a single win in conference play to finish with a 1-6-1 record against Missouri Valley opponents. The Bulldogs finished off the season with a 2-0 defeat to No. 15 Missouri State and missed a trip to the conference tournament. This year, Missouri State is favored to win the conference with Drake finishing one spot higher in the preseason coaches’ poll.

The Blue Demons’ last time out resulted in a 1-1 draw against St. Thomas with Nathaniel Enriquez scoring the game-tying goal in the 82nd minute of play. DePaul is now 1-1-1 on the season and will look to pick up its second win on Monday. The Bulldogs picked up a 3-0 win in the season opener, but are currently on a two game losing streak with the most recent being a close 2-1 loss to No. 12 Northwestern on Friday to bring their record to 1-2.
