Florida Atlantic (44-9) brings a 10-game winning streak into the American Athletic Conference tournament in college softball and earned the top seed with a 23-4 mark. The Owls had a double-bye to the semifinals and step into the fray on Friday afternoon against No. 4 seed North Texas (35-20) at USF Softball Stadium. The Mean Green won their quarterfinal matchup on Thursday and were 16-11 in American action, taking two of three from Florida Atlantic when the teams met April 11-13.

The Owls finished up their regular season with a three-game road sweep at Tulsa on Saturday and Sunday, allowing just two runs in the series. Kylie Hammonds comes into the tournament slashing .376/.517/.573 with five home runs, 35 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. Jesiana Mora leads the team with eight homers and Chloe Yeatts has 51 RBIs.

Ausha Moore capped a six-run first inning on Thursday with a three-run homer and later got down a successful squeeze bunt for an insurance run in the fifth, as North Texas beat Wichita State 8-4 on Thursday. Skylar Savage allowed two runs in five innings of relief to improve to 16-8 on the season. Madison Conley slashes .359/.443/.669 with 10 home runs and 42 RBIs, Kailyn Bearpaw has 10 homers and a team-high 44 RBIs, and Cierra Simon and Rylee Nicholson have 23 and 22 stolen bases, respectively.

Autumn Courtney (23-2) comes into the tournament with a 1.89 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in 148.1 innings for Florida Atlantic, striking out 156. Savage has a 3.60 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 145.2 innings for the Mean Green, while Anneca Anderson (13-6) owns a 3.57 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 131.1 innings.
