Alabama sits at 36-17 on the season and went undefeated in the regional last weekend, beating USC Upstate 1-0 and then knocking off Southeastern twice, with a 6-3 win in extra innings followed by a run-ruled 12-2 win on Sunday. Tennessee sits at 43-10 overall this year. The team beat Dayton 3-0 to open the regional, then swept Virginia with a 12-0 and 6-0 victory. It was a dominant opening weekend of tournament play for the Volunteers.
These two teams last met in Tuscaloosa back in April for a three-game series. Tennessee won the first and second game, posting 5-0 and 2-0 victories respectively. But Alabama came back in the final game of the series, beating the Volunteers 1-0 to avoid the series sweep.
