SEC play continues on Saturday for Arkansas and Florida as the teams meet in game two of their series in college softball action.

Another highly competitive game will take place on Saturday as the No. 2 Florida Gators host the No. 13 Arkansas Razorbacks in game two of their SEC series at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. On Friday night, the Gators dropped a 4-1 game in the opener to drop to 33-7 overall and 6-4 in conference play which has them in fifth place in the SEC standings. Taylor Shumaker scored the team’s only run in the loss with a solo shot to left field in the sixth inning, but it wasn’t enough to erase the three-run deficit the team found themselves in. In the first inning, Katelynn Oxley gave up a three-run homer which ended up being a bigger lead than the Gators were able to erase and she was credited with the loss in the circle.

With Friday night’s win, the Razorbacks extended their win streak to four games and improved to 27-7 overall and 7-6 in conference play. The team now sits in eighth place in the SEC standings and will look to keep climbing with another win on Saturday. Bri Ellis powered the offense with a three-run shot to open the scoring in the first inning and Kailey Wyckoff closed it out with an RBI single in the seventh inning to add a bit more distance between the Hogs and the Gators. Robyn Herron earned her 11th win in the circle after throwing a complete game and striking out four batters.

The Gators and Razorbacks have now met a total of 69 times in their history and Florida has a commanding 51-18 lead in the series. Tune in Saturday afternoon to see if the Gators can get one back to force a rubber match in game three.
