The Wildcats come into Saturday’s championship with an overall record of 45-10 and the team has now won four straight games with the most recent being a 6-3 win over third-seeded Iowa State on Friday night. The Red Raiders have been dominant in the tournament so far, outscoring their opponents 22-0 to improve to 44-12 on the season. In the team’s opening game, Texas Tech knocked of eighth-seeded Baylor in a 4-0 victory before moving on to fifth-seeded Arizona State, winning in dominant fashion with an 18-0 win. Hailey Toney led the offense at the plate, going 3-for-3 with four RBI. Surprisingly, even though the team brought home 18 runs, Mihyia Davis was the only Red Raider to hit a home run with a solo shot to right field in the third. Nijaree Canady earned the win with three innings of work in which she struck out five batters before Samantha Lincoln came in to relieve her. Lincoln struck out two batters in her two innings in the circle.

When Texas Tech and Arizona met earlier this season in Big 12 play, the Wildcats earned a 2-1 win in the first game before the Red Raiders dominated in game two for a 10-1 win in five innings. In the rubber match, Texas Tech picked up a 5-2 win to secure the series victory.
