After a walk-off for Liberty, the No. 1 seed is back in the C-USA Tournament Championship on Saturday in a rematch against Jacksonville State.

The rematch is set for the C-USA Tournament Championship as the No. 1 seed Liberty takes on No. 3 Jacksonville State in Bowling Green, Kent. Saturday afternoon. Jacksonville State won decisively on Day Three of the tournament on Friday by a 7-2 final which punched the Gamecocks’ spot in this championship game. Liberty didn’t score until the sixth inning of that early game as Jax State dominated. This is the first conference championship the Gamecocks have made since 2019 and it is their first in a C-USA tournament.

Jacksonville State stood on the shoulders of a dominant outing by Kat Carter who pitched all seven innings to pick up the win. Sophomore Amber Reed kicked the offense into high gear with a three-run homer in the third inning to give the Gamecocks all the run support they would need. Jax State may be perceived as the underdog in the championship rematch but it already has a winning formula.

Liberty got another chance to make the championship game today by eliminating Louisiana Tech in the night matchup on Friday 2-1 in 10 innings. Liberty outhit LA Tech13-6 but the game was tied after both teams scored in the fourth inning. Both teams left the bases loaded in the eighth inning but it was the Lady Flames who loaded them again in the 10th inning. Paige Doerr played the hero hitting a walk-off single to put Liberty back in the CUSA championship for the second year in a row.
