NC State will welcome Clemson to town on Friday to kick off an ACC series in college softball action.

The NC State Wolf Pack will host the No. 21 Clemson Tigers on Friday night as the teams begin their ACC series at Dail Softball Stadium. The Wolf Pack comes into the weekend with an overall record of 21-19 and a conference record of 4-11 which puts them in 11th place in the ACC standings. The team is currently on a seven-game losing streak with the most recent being a tough 10-0 loss to No. 11 Virginia Tech on Sunday to close out their ACC series in which the Wolf Pack was outscored 23-2 in the sweep. Wynne Gore dropped to 5-4 on the season after getting the start in the circle and giving up four earned runs in four innings of work. The team struggled to get the bats going, but Tori Ensley, Taylor Ensley, Hannah Goodwin and Teagan Thrunk were each able to connect to get on base, though none of them made it home in the loss.

The Tigers bring a two-game win streak into Friday night’s series opener with the most recent being a 4-1 in over Winthrop on Wednesday to improve to 31-11 overall on the season and 11-4 in conference play which has the team sitting in third place in the ACC standings. Alex Brown led Clemson at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI while Julia Knowler and Aby Vieira each brought home one run, as well. The team’s final run came home. in the sixth after Kennedy Ariail made it home on a fielding error. Macey Cintron pitched a complete game for Clemson, throwing out an impressive 10 batters while only giving up two hits and one earned run.

Clemson and NC State have only met 10 times in their history and the Tigers currently hold an 8-2 lead in the all-time series. The teams met last season in South Carolina for their ACC series and the Tigers were able to come back from being down one game to secure the series win in front of their home fans.
