The Clemson Tigers take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in the second semifinal of the ACC Softball Tournamnet on Friday afternoon. The Tigers, who are the second seed, needed a late-inning comeback to beat Virginia to reach the semifinals. The Tigers trailed the Cavaliers by a run heading into the sixth, but Taylor Pipkens hit a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom fo the inning. Pipkens, who is a freshman, gave the Tigers a lead they wouldn’t relinquish and it helped send them a step closer to an ACC title. The Tigers finished the regular season 19-5 in the ACC and are looking for their first-ever conference championship. The Hokies are the next team in their way and they will look to get by a team they haven’t played this season.

The Hokies, though, are looking to pull off the upset and make the championship game against either Florida State or Duke.

The Hokies earned a trip to the semifinals thanks to a 4-0 win over North Carolina on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

The Hokies fought off the Tar Heels and the rain to score all four of their runs in the sixht inning ot get them the win.

The Hokies now sit at 41-10 on the season. They finished with an 18-6 conference record which was just a game back of the Tigers in the standings.
