Norfolk State has been dominate in its first two games of this series against Coppin State as the Spartans go for the sweep on Saturday.

Norfolk State goes for its third win in a row when they host Coppin State on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans are 12-10 at home and are an impressive 13-4 in conference play. The first two games of this series haven’t been all that close as Norfolk State has forced those games to end early. The Green and Gold have a great shot at pulling off the sweep on Saturday. It doesn’t help much that CSU is trying to avoid losing 10 games in a row today. The Eagles are just 3-24 on the season and 3-14 in conference play. They have yet to win a game on the road with a 0-13 record away from Baltimore, Maryland. Coppin State is still going for its first win in April.

Norfolk State won easily in five innings in the opener of this series beating Coppin State 9-0 in the first game of a double-header on Friday ending in five innings. The Eagles were held to just one hit in the game and the Spartans scored in every inning but the fourth. Amaya McPherson pitched a complete game to get her ninth win of the season while striking out four batters on her way to the one-hitter. Norfolk State had 18 hits across both games.

Things started off better for Coppin State scoring the first run of the second game of the double header. But ultimately it didn’t end all that differently with the Spartans winning that game as well by a 9-1 final in six innings. The Eagles were limited to just two hits in the second game with Kailey Bryant getting the win pitching all six innings. It seems reasonable to expect a similar result for the Norfolk State sweep this afternoon.
