    Duke and Georgia look to stay alive in postseason play with a win on Sunday in college softball action.

    Durham Regional play continues on Sunday as the Duke Blue Devils take on the Georgia Bulldogs at Duke Softball Stadium. Duke is playing to stay alive, as the team comes into Sunday’s game with one loss so far. The Blue Devils opened regional play with a big 12-0 run-rule victory over Howard on Friday before falling to Georgia in a tough 8-2 defeat on Saturday. The team bounced back to beat Coastal Carolina in a thrilling eight-inning 16-8 win. Thessa Malau’ulu led the Duke offense, going 2-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs, while Aminah Vega, Amiah Burgess and Aleyah Terrell each finished the game with two RBIs apiece. Dani Drogemuller was credited with the win in the circle after coming in to relieve Cassidy Curd. Drogemuller threw for 5.1 innings and struck out one batter.

    The Bulldogs have been perfect in regional play thus far and can win it all with a victory against the Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon. The team opened the Durham Regional with a 6-3 win against Coastal Carolina on Friday and went on to beat Duke on Saturday with an 8-2 victory. Lyndi Rae Davis and Sarah Gordon powered the Bulldogs’ offense with two RBIs each. Dallas Goodnight and Mua Williams also helped offensively, each hitting solo home runs to extend the team’s lead. Randi Roelling improved to 10-8 on the year, pitching a complete game and striking out two batters during her time in the circle.

    Prior to Saturday’s game against the Blue Devils, Georgia had only played Duke four times. The all-time series now stands at 4-1 in Georgia’s favor. Tune in on Sunday afternoon to see if Duke can pull off the upset and stay alive in the Durham Regional to extend its season.
