Auburn will look to move out of last place in the SEC standings with a win over Georgia on Friday as the teams begin a series in Alabama.

The Auburn Tigers host the No. 20 Georgia Bulldogs on Friday night for an SEC series opener at Jane B. Moore Field. Auburn comes into the weekend series with a 25-16 overall record and a 2-13 SEC record, putting the team in last place in the conference standings. The team’s most recent game was played against UAB earlier this week and resulted in a 4-3 loss. UAB jumped out to a three-run lead in the top of the first inning. Auburn was able to earn two runs back in the bottom of the second with a double by Ma’Nia Womack. Womack later scored on a throwing error. In the top of the fourth, UAB extended the lead back to two, but the Tigers responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth from an Aubrie Lisenby double. Icess Tresvik started the game for the Tigers, going 0.2 innings and allowing two hits, two walks and three runs. SJ Geurin came in to finish the game with 6.1 innings allowing three hits and one run with two strikeouts.

The Bulldogs enter the weekend with an overall record of 26-13 and an SEC record of 4-10 which has them in 13th place in the standings. The Bulldogs took on USC Upstate earlier in the week and picked up a 3-2 extra-inning win. The team scored two runs in the fourth inning with and Emily Digby two-run homer. In the sixth inning, USC Upstate scored two runs to tie the game up, but Digby hit a double to score Dallis Goodwin. Randi Roelling started in the circle for the Bulldogs, pitching 3.0 innings, allowing one hit and throwing two strikeouts. Lilli Backers replaced Roelling to pitch 6.0 innings and allowed three hits, two runs and three walks while striking out four.  

Georgia leads the all-time series with a 41-26 record. The most recent meeting between the two teams took place last season when the teams met in the conference tournament and the Bulldogs earned a 6-5 14-inning win.
