An in-state rivalry game will take place on Tuesday as Georgia and Georgia Tech meet in a non-conference matchup.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will host an in-state rival on Tuesday night as they welcome the No. 23 Georgia Bulldogs to Shirley Clements Mewborn Field. The Yellow Jackets are currently in eighth place in the ACC standings with a conference record of 10-8 and an overall record of 26-17. The team was slated to play Florida State in an ACC series over the weekend, but due to the tragic shooting that took place on the Seminoles’ campus, the series was canceled. With the weekend off, the Yellow Jackets have now had over a week to rest as their last game was played against UNC to close out their ACC series which resulted in an 8-3 loss. Eliana Gottlieb was responsible for all three of the team’s runs with a three-run double in the fifth. Sophia Voyles took the loss in the circle after giving up four earned runs in four innings of work.

The Bulldogs have struggled in SEC play this season and are sitting in 13th place in the conference standings with a record of 6-14 against SEC opponents and 28-17 overall. The team dropped its series against No. 19 Ole Miss over the weekend after dropping the opener and finale. The Rebels earned a 20-11 victory on Thursday to begin the series before the Bulldogs bounced back with a 6-4 victory on Friday to force a rubber match for Saturday’s finale. Despite some strong offensive and defensive play, the Bulldogs fell 5-3 to close out the series. While the Bulldogs did bring in three runs in the final game, none of them were earned. The loss went to Randi Roelling in the circle after she gave up three earned runs in five innings.

Georgia and Georgia Tech have met a total of 46 times in their history and the Bulldogs hold a commanding 35-11 lead in the all-time series. The teams last met during the 2024 season and Georgia pulled out a 6-3 victory in Athens.
