DePaul will host UIC on Tuesday evening for an in-state battle in college softball action.

The UIC Flames will travel on Tuesday to take on the DePaul Blue Demons at Cacciatore Stadium for a cross town rivalry game. Both teams have struggled this season and will look to improve upon their records with a mid-week victory. The Flames are currently 7-35 overall and 3-14 in conference play, putting them in last place in the Missouri Valley standings. On Sunday, UIC hosted Belmont for the final game of their MVC series, winning 3-2 to avoid the sweep. Jasmine Whorley took the win in the circle for the Flames, pitching a complete game and striking out two batters. Siena Stickney and Larissa Ortiz were responsible for bringing the team’s runs home with Ortiz hitting an RBI groundout in the first and Stickney hitting a two-run single in the sixth.

The Blue Demons are also at the bottom of their conference standings as they hold a 1-14 record in Big East play and a record of 13-24 overall. The team has now lost seven straight games with the most recent being an 11-1 defeat at the hands of Villanova on Saturday in five innings. The team’s lone run came from the bat of Zoe Levine with a sac fly in the second innings, but the team was already trailing by five at that point and the Wildcats posted another five runs in the second inning. Kelly Greene took the loss in the circle to drop to 6-10 on the season after receiving the start and giving up five earned runs in just 0.1 innings of work.

DePaul and UIC have met a total of 57 times dating back to 1991. The Blue Demons hold a 38-19 advantage in the all-time series and have won the last six meetings between the two programs. The teams already met once this season and DePaul snuck out a narrow 9-8 win.
